Simplest way to Encrypt a database of MS-Access by using a Password


We all are aware that MS-Access is one of the famous information management tool that helps us to store information for reporting, and analysis in a systematic manner. Microsoft Access allows you to overcome the limitations that are found when we all try to manage the large amounts of relevant information in MS-Excel or other spreadsheet applications. Perhaps, MS-Access works in the same manner as any other database does. When we cumbersome the related information all together to store in the database, that lets you create connections (commonly known as relationships) between other things.

And when you wants to prevent from unauthorised use of an Access database, then consider encrypting the database by setting a password. So, we put light on to go through the essential step to encrypt the database. They are :-

  • Firstly you need to open the database in Exclusive mode. Here are the few steps which consist under into it.
      • Click on File tab>click Open.
      • Then, In the opened dialog box, browse only that file you want to open and then select the file.
      • Now you click the arrow button which is next to the Open button, and then click Open Exclusive option.



  • Click on File tab > click Info > click Encrypt with Password option.
  • Now, for Setting the Database Password dialog box appears.
  • Here, type your password in the Password box, type it again in the Verify the password, and then finally click OK.

Always make habit of using the strong password which combines uppercase, lowercase letters, symbols and numbers into it. It is very critical to remember the password and in case if you forget the password. It becomes a hectic thing for us to recover the password.
