How To Set Password On PDF File


PDF(Portable Document Format) is a compressed document format proposed by Adobe systems. It is one of the most popular document format and used as an open standard in document exchange. Now a days, it is used everywhere home, schools, small and big organizations. PDF files have high security features that's why people prefer PDF documents. User can set password on PDF file to protect their pdf files from copying , editing and printing. There are two types of PDF Passwords:- owner password and user password.

User can increase the document's security by limiting access and protect Pdf files by creating passwords. With applying password on PDF file owner can restrict user to perform certain activities, Like you can set the owners password by prevent from copying, editing and printing.

Follow bellow written steps to Set Password on PDF file :-

  • First, Go to main menu and Select Secure option from Toolbar and then Click on Restrict Opening and Editing option. You can also Encrypt for Certain Identities Using Certificates.
  • For setting Open Password:- Click on check box 'Require a password to open the document' and then enter a password if you want to restrict others to open your pdf file.
  • For setting Owner Password:- Click on check boxes 'Permissions' and then enter the permissions password ( every users have to provide a right password before changing their security settings). You may also set restrictions of Printing Allowed and Changes Allowed in the Permission is filed.
  • Finally click on Ok when process is complete.

The above steps will allow you to set PDF Password is for Adobe Acrobat. It is advisable that always set a strong password which is easy to remember because if you ever loss your Open Password then you could not able to access your PDF file.
